Word Unscrambler FAQ

Quick answers about rack solving, board search, blank tiles, and dictionary choices for serious Scrabble-style play.

What is a word unscrambler?

A word unscrambler takes the letters in your rack and returns legal words you can play. On WordUnscrambler.win, Unscrambler mode handles fast rack search, while Win mode uses the board and your rack together to surface stronger scoring plays.

How do I enter blank tiles?

Use a question mark or a space when you need a blank tile. Unscrambler mode and Win mode both accept up to two blanks in your rack, which matches standard Scrabble play and many Scrabble-style word games.

What is the difference between Unscrambler and Win?

Unscrambler finds playable words from the letters in your rack and lets you filter them fast. Win uses the current board plus your rack, checks legal placements, and ranks the strongest moves it can find. If you only need a rack list, use Unscrambler. If you need the best board play, use Win.

Why did you build Win mode?

Because most word unscrambler tools stop too early. They give you a list of words, but the hard part in a serious game is figuring out where those words actually fit and which lane scores best. Win mode was built to cut down the manual board math and make real move planning faster.

Which dictionary should I choose?

Choose TWL06 for most North American Scrabble play. Choose SOWPODS when you want the broader international list. Your results always follow the selected dictionary, so if a word or move is missing, the first thing to check is which word list you are using.

Why is a move missing from the list?

A move only appears if it is legal for the exact board, rack, and dictionary you entered. Cross-checks, premium squares, blank usage, and the selected word list can all change what appears in the results.

Can I use this word unscrambler on mobile?

Yes. Unscrambler mode stays compact for quick rack checks, and Win mode keeps the rack, board, and move list usable on smaller screens when you need to search a position on the go.
